A single-phase transformer is a static electrical machine which decreases or increases alternating voltage. It is generally used to power electric user devices which operate on alternating current with a different voltage to the mains voltage (a 230 V single-phase supply).
With over 50 years in the industrial automation industry to its name, our company manufactures and sells single-phase transformers for industrial use (both step-down and step-up transformers), for electromedical equipment, etc.
Main technical characteristics of the single-phase transformer:
- Primary voltage: as per customer specification
- Secondary voltage: as per customer specification
- Frequency: 50-60 Hz
- Operating temperature: 40 °C
- Protection class: IP00 (exposed)
- Insulation class: F (155 °C)
- Isolation test voltage: 5000 V

A single-phase transformer essentially consists of a sealed core made of a ferromagnetic material and two windings made of enamelled copper wire, wound around the core.
The primary winding is connected to the power supply line, while the secondary winding is connected to the user device.
To reduce eddy currents, the magnetic core is made with thin (0.35-0.50 mm thick) plates made of an iron and silicon alloy, coated with a layer of insulating material and packed tightly together.
The construction of the lamellar pack, which is held tightly in place by pack-tightening brackets, is designed therefore to:
- Ensure the transformer good mechanical stability
- Minimise iron losses due to hysteresis and eddy currents
Highly customised solutions
E.F.C.’s ability to develop highly bespoke solutions and cover all potential kinds of product (and therefore meet any installation need while also handling the structural work internally) makes it a leader in the manufacture of single-phase transformers.
As we offer innovative solutions, our customers can count on us to supply custom-designed solutions by combining our advanced know-how with a level of technical resources and facilities that allows us to handle all the production stages in-house.
